Dr Mark Bowes brings more than three decades of experience to the diagnosis and treatment of complex aesthetic and restorative cases.
As Founder and Clinical Director of Trust Dentistry, his clinical approach is centred on comprehensive assessment, careful planning and the preservation of natural tooth structure wherever possible. Every case is considered in the context of the individual- balancing aesthetics, function, biology and long-term oral health.
For Dr Mark Bowes, good treatment starts with a clear understanding of the whole mouth, not just the problem that brought a patient in.
At Trust Dentistry, this begins with the Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment™ (COHA), developed and trademarked by Mark as a more complete way of assessing oral health. It looks beyond individual teeth to consider gum health, enamel and decay risk, existing restorations, bite and jaw function, airway, wear patterns and everyday habits.
By building this broader picture first, Mark can identify what needs attention, what can be preserved and how treatment should be sequenced. It creates the foundation for a personalised plan that considers both immediate concerns and long-term oral health.

Dr Mark Bowes’ clinical approach brings together aesthetics, function and biology, with the aim of creating treatment that is appropriate for the individual rather than following a standard formula.
Each case is planned around the patient’s existing tooth structure, bite, facial features, oral health and long-term needs. Digital planning and minimally invasive techniques help guide decisions, while preserving healthy enamel and natural tooth structure wherever possible.
For Mark, the goal is not simply to improve how teeth look, but to create results that function well, feel natural and can be maintained over time.
Dr Mark Bowes’ clinical work covers a broad range of aesthetic and restorative dentistry, from subtle improvements to complex, multidisciplinary rehabilitation.
Treatment planned to improve the appearance of the smile while maintaining a natural result that suits the individual.
Restoring worn, damaged or compromised teeth with careful consideration for function, strength and long-term health.
Comprehensive treatment for more complex cases involving multiple teeth, bite changes or significant wear.
A conservative approach that aims to preserve as much healthy enamel and natural tooth structure as possible.
Digital planning that considers the smile in relation to the face, helping guide treatment before any clinical work begins.
Coordinating different areas of dentistry when a case requires a broader, collaborative approach.
Digital planning has played an important role in Dr Mark Bowes’ clinical work for many years. As a World Digital Smile Design Master & Instructor, founder of the Digital Dentistry Society of South Africa (DDSSA) and a founding member of the European Academy of Digital Dentistry, Mark has been closely involved in the development and adoption of digital workflows in modern dentistry.
In practice, digital planning allows him to assess far more than the teeth alone. Photography, video and detailed digital records are used to study the smile in motion and understand how the teeth relate to the face, lips, bite and overall proportions.
Through Digital Smile Design, proposed changes can be planned and previewed before treatment begins. This helps guide decisions around tooth position, shape, proportion and function, while also identifying the most conservative route to the desired result.
For patients, this means greater clarity around what is possible, how treatment will be approached and how the final result is expected to look and function.
Complex dentistry often involves more than one area of expertise. At Trust Dentistry, Dr Mark Bowes works within a broader clinical team, bringing together restorative and aesthetic dentistry, oral hygiene, orthodontic, surgical and other specialist care when a case requires it.
The aim is to plan treatment as a whole rather than approaching each stage in isolation. Mark’s focus on comprehensive diagnosis and restorative planning helps establish the final functional and aesthetic goal, while the appropriate clinicians and specialists contribute their expertise at different stages of treatment.
This is particularly important in implant dentistry. Trust follows a restorative-led approach, where the position and design of the final tooth are considered before surgery begins. Detailed digital planning is used to determine the ideal implant position, and Trust works with trusted referring implant surgeons for placement before the custom crown, bridge or implant-supported restoration is completed.
By coordinating care in this way, even complex cases can follow one considered treatment plan with every stage working towards the same long-term outcome.
Whether you are considering aesthetic treatment, restoring worn or damaged teeth, or need a more complex treatment plan, the first step is understanding the full picture.
